Nice

Great stuff, i'm a big fan of techstep myself!
Nice mix, and mean groove - keep up the good work!

Yoshii responds:

thank ya kindly

nice

i liked it, the chords are smooth and jazzy, but there are a few of the chord progressions that sounds a bit ackward to me. The beat itself is cool, but the drumkit itself sounds dull and boring, some more outstanding drum samples would really liven this track up.

Good job!

~T7 Great job on the track here, the bassline is "catchy" and has a mean feel to it. I liked the drums very much, they're well programmed and very intense. You might want to EQ off a bit treble on the drums, it gets a bit annoying in the long run.

As much as i liked the track, i must admit to thinking it was a bit trivial, and gets boring halfway through. Some sort of lead would do wonders, and a few more variations on the drums doesn't hurt anybody!

Overall great track!

Thank you so much for your long and good review!
I will use your critics to get better :)
Greets.

that is sorta strange...

Strange is good! Keep it up =)

spamwangler responds:

cheers, you guy/s/girl/s rock too!

outstanding

This track is excellent! I like how you managed to take some of the melodic elements of trance and transfer them into the d&b style. I think your mix needs a little work though.

Hook-wise - you're doing great, a more recognizeable hook would be swell, and a few more vocal samples would've done well here i think.
The beat is pumping, all is good, but if was mixing, the drums would be louder, and some heavy compression on top would get the whole track pumping.

If you like, please come check out some of my submissions, i'd appreciate your feedback :)

Yoshii responds:

I tweaked around with mastering this track, and tried to make the drums louder, I found that it ruins the main lead, so the only thing I could do without making it overbearing was to level it out and boost the bass a tad with upping the mid to give it more presence, as much as to not ruin the beautiful lead.

I pretty much tried to stick to the original layout of the scales and how it was written, and to just add some of my own input with a dnb attitude. *shrugs*

thanks though, I love getting feedback

Just the way i like it.

Let's start out this review by everyone agreeing the review "pointless" by sillygoose69 is a both pointless and silly review and NOT helpful in any way. Obviously sillygoose69 doesn't understand much about music.

I think this submission is one of the better of NG, i love the glitchy approach you're taking on "mainstream electronic music", taking melodic hooks and regular beats to a higher level. I like the low-cut arp that runs through the song, and the drums are pretty neat, although i'd have preffered a slightly thinner and more synthetic sound.

Programming is great, cool glitches on the drums and piano. Definately a 4/5 and 8/10 from this dark-aura music critic.

If you like, please come check out some of my submissions as well, i'd appreciate it.

done <3 thanks for the awesome review!

High Octane

This track is pretty good man, i'm digging the growly bass and intense (!) drums! I would have liked it to be longer, though. And why in the world did you put it in Heavy Metal?

Great track anyway.

Rig responds:

Because it is! It's the instrumental version of my song "Yummy Muffin ft. Cyril" - check it out, it's more metaly. lol
Thanks for the review!

Excessively loud bass

I do quite like the feel of this track, one of the better drum&bass around.

I like the chord and lead synths, but the bass is way too deep and drills through everything else, completely ruining the mix for me. I don't know what sort of speakers you made this track on, but listening to the mix on high-end speakers in my studio the bass is way too loud.

The drums are a bit flat, though i do like the "cut-off" sound to them, missing a lot of treble. Some subtle distortion could do the trick.

Definetly a potentially good loop here, but you REALLY need to work with your mix.

Paroxym responds:

This song was just for fun. I didnt feel like mastering it but thanx for the review!

Great!

I'm digging this piece! And here i was about to think that Newgrounds was becoming so overcrowded with noobs that there was no room for actual talent anymore. I love the slightly "lo-fi" sound this track has going on, and generally it has a pretty alternative feel. Great piece of work!

You can check out some of my experimental/drum&bass out as well if you like :)

Shameless selfpromotion, i know. The only way to get a little attention around here!

Superb track. 5'ed and downloaded.

haha, leave the noobs alone, they are the fooochuuure.
thanks, will check out your stuff

Definetly catchy

Nice track you've made there! I fancy the bass and the leadsynth definetly is catchy.

The arrangement and choice of sounds were perfect, definetly a turnon for me xD You could have used some more time on the mix though, a little more reverb on some leads would've been nice, and personally i thought the kick drum was too loud and kind of disturbing to the rest of the mix. Also some more compression on the drums as well as the full mix would've been sweet.
Perhaps sidechaining the kick drum to some of the "non-lead" synths? Would give a much better feel of rythm for sure!

Beside from this there's not much more improvement to be done. Very nice track :)

Problem with making "conventional" dance music is that the standard just keeps vastly improving, making it very tough living up to the big-daddys!

Well, that's just my opinion anyway :p

(check out my stuff!)

F-777 responds:

Thanks for the review.

Ill try to check your stuff out soon.

Nice track

Hm, i'm gonna write this review while hearing the song, if you don't mind ;) Don't worry, already heard the track 3 times ^_-

I like the intro FX, nice to hear something new, i wouldn't include the "londons finest" vocal though, to be honest with you it sounds pretty dumb :/ consider re-recording it, with some energy, yell it out loud, give that mic a piece of your mind!

I enjoyed the EP in the beginning of the song, gives a nice funky, yet laid back attitude to the song.

I had trouble making a whole lot of sense out of the rest of the track, it seemed kind of random to me, but i think you consider altering this into a dub track rather than a techno track, it sounds pretty much like hard dub, with a 4*4 (four-on-the-floor, call whatever you want :P) beat

Nice idea, great ambition, but i honestly think you should work some more with this track. I don't know excactly how long you've been in the biz', but it seems that you in general have to put a little more effort into your stuff. That's just my opinion though ;/

Great potential though!

Regards,

T7

BritZombie responds:

I started these beats two days ago, my first proper go at it.

Thats why its not all that. Also, some I done with the other half of LF. The shout was a bit of a laugh.

But on the contary I did put a lot of effort into it.

Im only an amateur so I didn't understand some of what you said.

I'll post some more tomorrow, could you give your opinion on that or maybe on some others??

Techno Journey and Londons Finest is fairly good if you tell me how to improve.

Thanks a bunch, =)
